Thanksgiving has a unique meaning for me this year. In my current novel, I'm working with a lot of unpleasant memories I've dredged up (and dramatically exaggerated!) from my childhood. It puts the life I have right now into a much clearer perspective. Despite my customary bitching (I'm too fat, don't have enough money, have no hair, etc.) this book really reminds me about how lucky I really am this Thanksgiving.
I have an amazing son and wife whom I love very much. I have an array of siblings and nieces/nephews that I adore. I have friends, both new and old, that make my life a lot of fun. I get to stand beside some of the greatest people I've ever know in my role as an Army Medic. I have a job that I enjoy, with co-workers I like and respect. I have a home, and enough cash to get me everything I need (if not always what I want!)
I really do have a lot to be thankful about, so if you're one of the people mentioned above . . . Thanks!
Seriously: thank you, for making my life pretty damn awesome. Have s great Turkey Day, everyone!
